My name is Pat Loika.
I'm a writer, illustrator and podcaster based out of San Diego, CA. I also dabble in photography and way too many other activities to list.
This is where I do my personal blogging, with random thoughts, nonsense, art and photos.

Valerio Schiti’s facial expressions on this week’s Journey Into Mystery issue 652 are fantastic.

John Romita, Jr. is one of those people that people will constantly debate whether or not his art is good. You know what the truth is? Olivier Coipel, Frank Quitely, J.H. Williams III, Bryan Hitch, Jim Lee, Alex Ross (All the big names, basically) these guys slave over every panel. Their stuff is so good because they work on it A LOT.
By comparison, John Romita, Jr can do the stuff above whenever he wants to… Because it’s his job. He’s a blue collar guy that draws comics, and he works his ass off. He can blow you away with a cover any day of the week, or draw a great conversation (see his work on Amazing Spider-Man). Johnny is the guy that you will see reprinted over and over and over again in the essential collections. He’s Mr. Marvel. And good GOD am I thankful for that!
I am reblogging because I agree 100% with this statement (also, It shows the wolverine sketch I inked last year for fun http://crucase.deviantart.com/art/BUB-336327598?q=gallery%3Acrucase%2F31495817&qo=32 )
One of the best, if not THE BEST storyteller in comics.
